Dec. 21, 2011

My first week has been good I'm learning alot here and can bear my testimony and pray in dutch. Cool huh?! We have two Dutch instructors who served with the same mission president we'll have. The first day they spoke to us in nothing but Dutch, intense! But I can tell that the Spirit is assisting us with learning because I can actually understand maybe 1/3 of what is said and can reply, so considering that I don't really even know the language I'd say that's pretty good!! Also, my companions and I have already taught three lessons in Dutch to an investigator and we have our fourth lesson tonight. The investigators name in Kees (pronounced case) and he is from the Netherlands. It's stressful trying to teach someone in a language we don't know, but the Lord blesses us for our endeavors and we're actually able to understand one another, at least generally. I am where I am supposed to be and doing the Lord's will.

Zuster Hinchcliff is off and flying. She said her good-by's and finished what she could and is gone. She is happy and excited to serve the Lord. She will be in Salt Lake tonight and off to Provo either tonight or tomorrow to stay with her old roommates. Then on the 14th, she will enter the MTC.
Nicole is a little sad, but has the comfort of knowing that Mary will be home to occupy her time on friday. KJ is ready to hear about all the adventures Zuster Hinchcliff is going to have. She is a great example to all and will do a great job!
The email address for Zuster Hinchcliff is
Rebecca Hinchcliff@myldsmail.net.
An address for packages will be coming. I will keep you posted. We thank you all for your loving support. This will be her main form of communication so keep checking back. Love all of us.

Set-Apart

Welcome to Sister Hinchcliff's mission blog!! She woke up this morning to a phone call from the stake president's office asking her if she could be set-apart today because President Cluff is going out of town tomorrow. Since she has to be set-apart before she leaves she agreed to 4:30 this afternoon but then after realizing all she still had to do to get ready before subscribing to missionary rules (no phone, no internet, etc.) she had a bit of an emotional break-down. President Cluff was understanding however and we were able to get the time switched to this evening. So, as of 8 something-ish tonight Becky is an official missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! We are so excited and so proud of her. She is excited that her first missionary audience will be her home ward at her farewell talk tomorrow, what a neat experience :)
